Shouldn't cause GCs. You can usually think of heap memory separately from the rest. It's already allocated as far as the OS is concerned, and it doesn't know anything about GC going on inside of that allocation. You can set "-XX:+AlwaysPreTouch" to make sure it's physically allocated on startup.

Nodetool repair on read only cluster

What would running a repair on a cluster do when there are no deletes nor have there ever been?I have no deletes yet on my data.Yet running a repair took over 9 hours on a 5 node cluster? Roger?

You need check the node that failed validation to find the relevant error. The IP should be in the logs of the node you started repair on. You shouldn't run multiple repairs on the same table from multiple nodes unless you really know what you're doing and not using vnodes. The failure you are lik
