Hi Werner,
As you mentioned, it's currently only supported on the XML side. However,
regardless of how you do it, I do think Castor JDO should have an automatic
discovery of mapping files. And I don't think it would hurt to support more than
one approach. Since the ".castor.xml" approach already works on the XML side, it
might be nice to support it on the JDO side as well, in addition to the
approaches that Ralf was hinting to.

Fine by me. I just came to realize, anyjhow, that the resolution of the
.castor.xml files is supported by XMLMappingLoader only, and hence not
supported within JDOMappingLoader (which happens to be used by Castor JDO).

Werner,
as JPA defines some discovering mechanisums I'd be in favor
of supporting them instead of a Castor specific one that that
only a few persons no yet.

Keith,
Out of interest, would you think that this should work with
Castor JDO
as well ?

Hi Chris,
You should be able to drop a mapping file with the name
".castor.xml"
into your Java package and Castor should discover it.
Hope that helps!

Before I got to Castor I evaluated several other XML
Binding tools and
I have found this one to be the best!
Having said that, there is one feature of Betwixt that I
really liked
and that is if you have a class com.mypackage.MyClass and
you create
an XML file names /com/mypackage/MyPackage.betwixt the
Betwixt engine
automatically finds the mapping file and uses it for the class.
Is there anything like this in Castor? I have seen nothing in the
docs I have read. If there is not then I am going to
write one. I
will, of course, give the solution back to the Castor group as a
tribute to this find engine.
Thanks,
