The Quora post gives a good design overview. However, I was looking for
more of operational and performance comparison given the same dataset and
most of the points you mentioned.

I'm trying out drill (1.6.0) over a custom storage (based on cassandra).
I've implemented/extended below and the simple select queries (involving
