and am wondering if it's possible to also specify something like -setrep on
the same line. -setsrep requires you to specify the file, which implies
that it has to exist

Unfortunately I'm getting the following output:

if I simplify my code, I basically do this:
hadoop dfs -rm -skipTrash $file
hadoop dfs -copyFromLocal - $local $file
(the removal is needed because I run a job but previous input/output may exist,
so I need to delete it first, as -copyFromLocal does not support overwrite)

I'm using the Hadoop FS shell to move files into my data store (either HDFS
or S3Native). I'd like to use wildcard with copyFromLocal but this doesn't
seem to work. Is there any way I can get that kind of functionality?

Which version of hadoop are you using.
I think from 0.18 or 0.19 copyFromLocal accepts multiple files as input but
destination should be a directory.
