Please elaborate a bit more.
Are you asking about Hive? It should work but there are certain
queries you can't change the Num(1) reducer counts for - which is by
design in a few cases.
P.s. There's a typo there. Its mapred.reduce.tasks, not
mapred.reducel.tasks (no l).
