Tiles and XHTML mode

Does xhtml mode () work with tiles? Only on the main page does the xhtml mode work, all included tiles from there does not use it. Is it because xhtml mode is a page context attribute which the included tiles cannot access? Any workarounds?

Tiles definition name from within a jsp page
