Your only possibility is to use an x86 UML binary, built with make ARCH=um
SUBARCH=i386 and/or within a 32-bit chroot.

Got me an SGI Altix IA_64 machine and would like to get
a kernel running under UML.
Downloaded fresh kernel source for linux-2.6.13.4.
There are a few bits for IA_64 in arch/um but not
complete.
Any advice.
