I'm using cocoon 2.1 running on resin 2.1.11. Don't have much experience
with either :)
I'm using the standard image directory . So the sitemap pattern for
gif's is

I have set up several pipelines and readers within cocoon.
I can include XML content without any problems using a CInclude template,
as in the following example (not the real code, just dummy names).

2. added set-encoding action
3. set xml and html seralizer encoding to UTF-8
4. set my db default encoding to latin2

Yep, but only for viewing info.
Unless you are storing your XML natively as structured tables and
schemas in the database you'll want to make sure you use the SQL XML
Extract routines so that the CBO can use rewrites on XPath queries to
get just the data you want.
