not opposed to using GRUB, which works quite well in my
current setup. Also what is the chance of the standard bootloader recognizing
the Windows Restore partition?

I have figured out my pkgsrc problem. Having only ever used it on NetBSD I was
not aware that I needed to use /usr/pkg/bin/bmake rather than /usr/bin/make
when building packages from /usr/pkgsrc.
