Run /usr/bin/file on the necessary file(s).
yes and i don't even see "xorg" there:
http://www.pkgsrc-box.org/packages/stable/DragonFly-1.8/meta-pkgs/
"modular-xorg-fonts" are there but xorg is not :-(
Have a look in ../x11. It looks like you will have to use modular xorg
whether you like it or not now.
any idea on getting gcc 4.x on DragonFly BSD ?
DragonFly has gcc 4.x already.
If you are using 1.8.x:
In /etc/make.conf uncomment WANT_GCC41=yes and rebuild.
If you are using HEAD, it is built automatically already.
To use it set CCVER to gcc41.

the command prompt. This is only needed if the shell is a c based
shell though. Like Jeremy said, make sure it is in your PATH.

Thank you. No, only looked at the handbook.
The handbook is not the most reliable thing at the moment. It needs
someone to go through it and fix all the outdated/wrong things.
Yes, I thought about it too. However, the packages.7 manpage is part of
the pkgsrc bootstrap, so adding a link would either have to be done
directly by the pkgsrc people or we'd have to add it to
nrelease/Makefile (which I'll do on the weekend if no one objects).
packages(7) doesn't explain how

Can you explain what this does besides making a symlink?
