[Users] skipping SYNC in postrestrict

2017-10-18 Thread Roland Haas
Hello all, does anyone feel confident to state if / when one can skip the SYNC in POSTRESTRICT ? Assuming all computation by user thorns in the bin is purely pointwise of course. My run has no symmetries, and (for the sake of the argument) assume that the resolution is high enough so that the

Dear all, regarding the outreach and visibility topic I have one suggestion concerning the hurdles of getting started with the Einstein Toolkit. Already two times this year I met people who were rather interested in the ET but did not know how to get started. The initial hurdle of starting

Thanks Bruno, David! @all: this is a lot of great material. I put my question forward to the ET list to initiate some discussion about how we can efficiently bundle it, e.g. on the website's gallery, maybe in a somewhat similar as the SXS collaboration does. cheers, Helvi

Hi Hevli, let me add, as an example of NS merger simulations done with the ET, our (Princeton/Parma/Frankfurt groups) simulations with the WhiskyTHC code, which includes microphysical nuclear EOS and neutrinos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhS77N0tyEA Ref.

Hi Eliu, Frank, thanks a lot for your feedback. This is certainly very helpful. I think it would be nice to have them linked to the website gallery at some point, as eye-catcher for people who are not working within the "traditional" NumRel groups. @Eliu: no, I am not a part of LSC/Virgo.

Hi Miguel, everyone, regarding your first point: I had a similar problem on its predecessor, MareNostrum 3. The trick was to unset the global MPI variable, so in my bashrc I had something like module load intel ... unset MPI I hope this helps! I'll also have a go at the compilation myself

[Users] compilation on marenostrum 4

2017-10-18 Thread Miguel Zilhão
hi all, i've been compiling the latest ET on marenostrum 4, and there were a couple of issues i'd like to ask: 1. on marenostrum, they bundle a lot of mpi-related tools on modules. in particular, one of the default modules that is loaded is called 'impi'. this module sets the global variable

Hi Helvi: The NCSA Gravity Group has been working on this front for some time now. We have ongoing collaborations with Ian Hinder at the AEI in the context of binary black hole simulations, and now with other European colleagues working on the use of GRHydro for matter simulations. We are
