Hi :)
I think it's an accident rather than a deliberate design choice. Otherwise
they would probably have put a tick-box in options somewhere i guess. The
work-around works though.

Ah, there y'go. Isn't that much better than a macro?
Anyway, I think that's what the op was looking for, though, as always, I could

You need to have entered some information in the User Data section
under Tools>Options>LibreOffice>User Data. Only a first name is
sufficient but the form can not be completely blank.
Also check the box labeled "Enable experimental (unstable) features"
under Tools>Options>LibreOffice>General
In openoffice, if I saved a document, when I next opened it, the cursor
was automatically positioned where it was when I left off. This doesn't
seem to be happening in libreoffice, as the cursor is always at the top
of the document, meaning one has to remember some other way "where I was
up to"

Indeed, but what the op was hoping for (I think) was input masks, as
exist in dBase products, where at design time the designer specifies
the format of what can be input. So you could define a mask for a
field like 'XXX XX

I've not been keeping up with the OO/LO saga. It strikes me as a bit mad to
have two different products, each being developed with minimal resources,
trying to compete with the MS juggernaut. United we stand, divided we
fall. But that's a bit off-topic.
Anyway, I've reported this as a bug to B

Hi :)
So when the bullet-points looked fine on my system it was because i had the
proprietary 'MS' fonts installed?
