I indeed understood that you want to show the y-value of every fifth x-value. However, it seems you
don't want to stick with the pattern but want to be more flexible.
In general a graph displayes the correlation between a series of x-values and their related
y-values. The x-axis is in any spree
I have several solutions to the original problem.
I have explored the database option.
I wish to thank everyone for their contributions. I am very happy with the
results.

Simply because all you have is a database excerpt in plain text. You never
asked for flexibility. You asked for data integrity (keep the exact same
date encoding when saving back to a database file).
Hi :)
Ahhh, we shorten MS Office to MSO. It might be only LibreOffice lists and a
few other such places that use it that way.

Do you delete cookies, temp-files, history, cache, desktop.ini, thumbnails and
so on too? It all seems too much effort and too likely to create problems.

Hi :)
Good back-up processes 'should' exclude anything that has not changed. That is
they 'should' be able to identify which files and folders have changed with a
reasonable level of accuracy. Like syncing process are meant to do.
Grsync is quite nice. If you are happy on the command-line
IMHO, why don't you exclude the dot-files from the backup? The really
important dot-system files can then be another exception on the
exclusion exception (opt-in)

Could you just not exclude this directory from the backup?

There are many directories (and if the file has changed, I want it backed up),
is there a way to stop creating dot files?

What does it prevent you from doing? Are you trying to open this file
more than once? You see, I'm confused why you need to override this
function of LO. Since the dot files are hidden anyway, I don't see what
difference the existence of these files make. The answer to my questions

Im afraid there is not such a solution you are looking for. Charts in general are based on a defined
data range for the x-axis where all data on this range are includeded. But you want to make a data
