one hint: *.jpg can't contain transparent background. The contur is
mostly set to this transparent background. I would prefer to change the
background in the *.png to transparaent background to see how contur
should work automatically.
You are using LO 6.3.4.2. LO 6.3 has had end of life

LO 6.3.4.2 on Xubuntu 18.04, up to date. LO is downloaded from LO, not
from Ubuntu repositories.
