I want to switch from NeoOffice (Mac OSX ) to LibreOffice. Since they use the
same file extension, I though it would work easily.
Not so.
I took the NeoOffice app and put it in the trash. Then I opened LibreOffice
and opened an .odt document from the “Open” command inside the program. No
problem. I made a small change and saved it. Fine.
Then, in the Finder, I doubled clicked the document expecting it to open in
LibreOffice.
Instead it opened in a text editor!
In short, it would seem that once a document has been started in NeoOffice,
it can never be opened in LibreOffice by double clicking in the Finder.

The above problem occurred on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8
I also use a mac that runs Lion. I would like to run LibreOffice there also.
Can anyone help me with this? I have hundreds of documents that were
originally written in NeoOffice and I have always opened them from the
finder. It would be a tremendous pain if I had to go into the program and
open them from there each time.

Thanks,
D.
