Greetings, I have just realised that the default version of mime.types which comes with apache distros 1.3 2.0 does not contain an extension for the type application/x-gzip. This means that if you have a file on your site like download.tar.gz, it will be served with Content-type:

Hello, I'm running Apache 2.0.54 on a Linux system here. Across my LAN, I can upload a 1.4GB file to it via POST with a CGI script, no problem. But if I try to upload a 2.1GB file, the upload never starts; the server refuses it. I checked the server's access log to see what was going on.

Users are not really supposed to edit the mime.types file directly. I think this is what the AddType directive is for. The Apache webmaster may have edited the mime.types file. Most likely, he/she has just added the following directive to httpd.conf. # AddType allows you to add to or override
