Is it possible that the web server is speaking HTTPS and the web browser is
speaking HTTP?

noticed that you have LD_OPTIONS='-L/usr/local/lib'. I would use
LD_OPTIONS='-L/usr/local/lib -R/usr/local/lib' to ensure that the runtime
library path is set correctly.

will tell you which library is loading what from where. This doesn't work
with ldd. See the ld.so.1 and lari manual pages.

thing to do because Apache runs on more than just Unix. Windows is probably easy
to handle compared with NetWare and mainframes.
