I'm still struggling with the mod_rewrite module in combination with the
tomcat server.
I changed my configuration to this:
LoadModule rewrite_module /usr/lib/apache2/mod_rewrite.so
RewriteEngine on
RewriteLog /var/log/apache2/mod_rewrite.log
RewriteLogLevel 2
RewriteRule
