From
your logs it doesn't look like the modem was started properly - you should see a
line stating "AT SMSC successfuly opened", which means that Kannel started
the modem properly. otherwise, Kannel failed to connect and of course won't send
or receive messages. check your configuration file

i'm the one experimenting on kannel 1.1.x-cvs on
windows 2000 with nokia 5110 as my smsc.
i have omitted the host and port from the smsc
group and instead of using at, i used at2. no errors were reported however,
nothing happens when i send or receive messages. do i still nee
your
configuration is incorrect, as using smsc = at you do not need to set host and
port.
the
error in question means that Kannel failed to select() on some file descriptor.
this generally should not happen, and while I'm no expert on cygwin, I think it
may indicate a problem with your cyg
