You can start but first thing is what you want to do with kannel. This
application is smsc client.
Either you want to use cell phones as smsc or connect some provider over ip.

I made a stupid mistake. Now I set syslog-level to 0 and not 7 and now I
see syslog logging!!!
What I need are the access-log items, but I don't see anythink of it.
Is it not implemented or I made another mistake?

I got exact similar issue, and I tried to correct with the *.*.*.* IP
parameter given by Rene, but right now no success.

The mysql dlr table suggested in the documentation by default does not
have a timestamp. You can add a field to the table and then delete
rows older than a certain date.
The suggested table is something like this:
