yep, as far as you can communicate via the USB serial line to the modem, and the
AT command set is standard complient, you should be fine.

serial interfaces are getting hard to find and replicators have high costs.
I've found a chinese GPRS modem sold in USB with a bundled antenna - it
says it supports:
