I believe this line on "group = smsc" doesn't belong there. That's for
fakesmsc and other smsc that are using TCP/IP for connection (emi, cimd,
smpp, etc.). Try removing that line and see what happens.

(i.e. can receive and response to AT Command send from computer), I suggest
to check it with 'minicom'. Minicom is standard terminal program in Linux
