xterm now broken?

Hi, there's been an update for xterm today, and now when I start an xterm, the xterm window comes up and the screen remains black. I can type commands in the xterm, like 'exit', and it works, yet there is no output to the screen. It sometimes shows the prompt and the cursor. Any idea how I can
