Fermilab is a kerberos-based organization but what we do
to authenticate to OpenNebula is to use what is called
a Kerberos Certificate Authority to make X.509 credentials
from the kerberos credentials.

For host monitoring problems you should check /var/log/one/oned.log.
The problems are usually related with passwordless ssh connection.
You should also upgrade your installation. Latest version is 4.4.

Hello again!
Trying to suspend + resume a VM had the same result.
However, I managed to fix this meanwhile.
It seemed that my system datastore was shared. After changing it's TM_MAD to
ssh from sunstone everything worked fine.
Hope it will help others too!
