Dear Community,
This is the official announcement of OpenNebula 4.2 Flame Beta
(4.1.80). After the ground shaking release that was OpenNebula 4.0
Eagle, now its time to stabilise features in this next release,
OpenNebula 4.2 Flame. The principal aim of this release is to
strengthen the most
Hi Michael,
That is a very good question indeed ;) In fact, we had that feature
(multiple system datastores [1]) scheduled for 4.2 (Flame), but we
want to test it more thoroughly, so we delayed it for 4.4.
Best,

Constantino Vázquez Blanco,
Hi Chen,
Let's check the permissions on the ESX. Disks should be created under
Administrator ownership, so they can be deleted properly afterwards.
The logs suggests otherwise:
---
Ignored: TRANSFER FAILURE 104 Cannot delete
[103]104/disk.0/disk-flat.vmdk in vmw01
---
Could you ssh into vmw01
Hi Michael,
Currently, there is no support to upload directories through Sunstone.
Alternatively, you can make a tarball (tar.gz) with a folder
containing the vmdk you want to register, and register it through
Sunstone. OpenNebula will automatically untar it in order to use it.
Hope it helps,
Architect

Hi Chen Xiang,
You are right , there are several bugs in the 3.8.3 VMFS drivers. I
recommend updating to 3.8.4 at least, and ideally to 4.0.1.
About the permissions problems, you should create an ESX user
'oneadmin' with the same UID as 'oneadmin' in the front-end.
Hope it helps,

Treating the env. as SAN disks, I don’t need a datastore on the OpenNebula

That is correct, for the configuration you are describing you will
need to use the OpenNebula datastore and

Hi,
Absolutely, you can use the same OpenNebula instance to manage more
than one type of hypervisor simultaneously.
You will need to define a differente datastore for the VMware
hypervisors. The recommended way is to create a cluster, add the
VMware hypervisor hosts and set a specific system

Hi Nicolas,
serveradmin is used by Sunstone and related interface services. Did
you try it out with other users (ie, oneadmin)?
Depending on what type of service you are building, you may be
interested indeed in serveradmin. Could you elaborate a bit more on
that?

Hi,
I would suggest installing the appliance onto an ESX hypervisor, not
Workstation.
In any case, please do send the screenshots, they don't seem to be
attached in your original mail.

Hi Angel,
There are two network models for ESX [1]
1) Pre-defined network model: The BRIDGE of the vnet has to point to a
pre-created port group. The VMs with NICs in that vnet, will get their NICs
binded to that port group. This solution doesn't isolate one vnet from
another

Hi,
The problems seem to be in the esxcli, let's discard it first. What is the

Hi,
I think the datastore is needing some extra information, which can be found
here [1]. You are lacking the BRDIGE_LIST option:

as proxies to stage images into the datastore (vmfs datastores only)

Dear Carlo,
Yep, glad you found it already. As stated in the release notes for
OpenNebulaApps 3.8.3 [1]:
-
OpenNebulaApps is released under the Apache 2.0 open source license.
The complete source tree and binary packages for the supported Linux
platforms can be downloaded here
Hi Jon,
IIRC, you were using CentOS as the OS for the OpenNebula front-end.
The status functionality in the opennebula init script is still not
available, although it is already planed [1] for the upcoming 4.0
release (which is around the corner ;) ).
