Dear all: The Center for Functional Nanomaterials? (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (http://www.bnl.gov/cfn/) is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Theory and Computation group. The research will focus on developing physical models, efficient algorithms and computer codes to study electron correlation effects based on the random phase approximation (RPA). Exemplary applications will be directed to energy-related heterogeneous catalysis.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field, strong background in first-principles electronic structure theory, and experience in developing plane-wave pseudopotential codes. Coding experience on hybrid MPI/OpenMP for large scale scientific computing is a plus. The code development is based on a modified version of Quantum Espresso. The work will be directed by Deyu Lu. Position starts as early as June 1, 2013. BNL policy states that research associate appointments may be made to individuals who have received their doctorate within the past five years.
