I do agree with you, but we lack -- as usual -- manpower.
The Doxia stack (doxia, site plugin, etc) was lagging a LOT behind
current development, and Michael did a great job to update it (but it
took him 4 years!), but many plugins are still on the 1.x stack.

I have the impression that the plugin is only available for Maven 1.

I have tried to integrate my project with maven-linkcheck-plugin.
When I issue maven site:deploy command. linkcheck plugin validates my pages.
But the report generated by the plugin is empty.
