go into build path for the project, select 
libraries->add library->maven2 managed dependencies. Once done try a 
recompile and see if things change. 

If this does not work we will next look at builders - Also 
read the docs about WTP (if you are using it)

Very heated discussion here... AFAICS you just have a very old 
version
of the plugin where the compile errors were not printed out in 
the
Eclipse console. Install the dev version from
http://m2eclipse.codehaus.org/update-dev/
and check whether 
is works better for you.
