Yes, but be aware that there are many many problems with CVS head.

it's fair game", but not all projects are the same.

I did not get a shortDescription message, but I received the same
error and stack trace as you did after rebuilding Maven from source,
so it's not just you.
I'm poking around to see if I can tell if I'm missing something.
