Looks like you are trying to access a non-existing layer (the one you
recently removed) with the 3rd and 4th line.
myLayer.vector.destroyFeatures();
myLayer.vector.destroy();
My guess it first destroy everything and then remove the layer.

I am currently using Openlayers with the base map from Openlayers.
I am curious if there are other free map services that can give base
maps like the Openlayers maybe also with satellite imagery?
I already know Google, Yahoo and MS ones. From these Google is the
most useful for me in terms
Did you try calling it with a mapserver layer?
OpenLayers.Layer.Mapserver
I am not sure if it makes a difference, but using MapServer layer works for me.

Hi,
I have a simple openlayers map, actually the simplest example from the
examples. I tried to put, the "map" div into another div or table.
When I do this, the map just disappears when I look at the page in IE.
I can see the map in Firefox. Is there a reason for this to happen?
