Sorry for the typo on version.
I'm supposedly a better tech than that -- I've loaded OpenOffice probably a
hundred times.
This time, nothing worked. It was a fresh install of Windows-7. Restarts
didn't change the result. The error message just said wouldn't run.
NOW ( 2:30 am) it DOES
Perhaps he's running as a user and is being asked for the admin's password.
BTW, contrary to common practice, users should not have admin
privileges. They should be asked for the password when installing
software. Otherwise they greatly compromise security and open the door
for malware.
Is there a box to check that says something like “don’t remind me again” or
“use this response from now on?”
This is a warning because the code is not signed, something that is becoming
increasingly important on consumer PC operating systems. Windows 10 is raising
the bar.

What do you mean "authorize" -- what exactly is the message and how does it
come up?
Then, did you upgrade to Windows 10 [Home?] on a machine that already had
OpenOffice installed?
