David, do you have a shortcut on the Desktop with the Seagulls logo (round blue icon with 2 white flying forms)? If so you can pin that shortcut to the taskbar. It will show the Seagulls (at least at my Desktop)
Otherwise you might try to create a new shortcut on the Desktop and then change the icon to the Seagulls logo. The default full installation at my machine did indeed make a white rectangular icon on my Desktop.
