Highlight file icon in folder (or whole folder), select ‘get info’ in drop
down file menu at top of finder screen. At bottom there’s a permissions
option (you might have to enter password to unlock) where you can allocate
‘read only’ or ‘write and read’.

When it happens to me I cose and reopen the file. If that doesn't work then I
believe that open the file then use "Save As' sorry I'm a bit vague but
