Do you UPGRADE the version of open office lately ? if yes, THAT is
the problem. Because there is a bug every time you change your version.
There is no bug in the enquirer's declared behaviour. The spel
s highlighted in red, but the suggestion box is empty.
In another result (again the entire sentence) "in" is highlighted in
red, and in the suggestion box: "sun"

I can find no troubleshooting or help topics which pertain to these issues.

Are you, as it seems, restricting yourself to the built-in help text?
There is some help there - under "toolbars;adding buttons". But there

Took your advice and got it without any problems. Didn't know it could be so
easy. May I be so bold as to suggest you could add these instructions to Open
Office Help since I was baffled as to how to do it with the limited details
about Thesaurus there?

I have OO 4.1.1, and the Thesaurus button is always
greyed out. I have Dictionaries that appear to include a Thesaurus,
but the ToolsLanguageThesaurus option never changes to normal
black - always remains greyed out. Ctrl-F7 do not activate the Thesaurus.

I just had the same problem. I fixed it by doing the following things.
1) There was an update available for the Thesaurus extension. You can tell
if there is an update available because there will be a green arrow
pointing down near the top-right of the OO window. I downloaded and
