the following steps?
1. In Writer menu choose Tools ->Options ->OpenOffice.org ->Security
2. Select (checked) Open this document in read only mode.
3. Press the protect button.

I don't like Windows. I use GNU/Linux, Debian testing updated every
week. I don't see why I have to buy something else if I work well
with it. FOR YOU is slow, for me is fine. And it's MY computer.
