Trying to install OpenOffice.org for multi-user environment from downloaded
file Ooo_1.9.122_Win32Intel_install.zip. Extracted to folder, per
“Instructions for Installing and Setting Up OpenOffice.org 1.1.x” – “Setup
Guide” gives same instructions. The instructions indicate that installing
with the multi-user option is a little more complicated, but this is more
than a little…
The command line c:\<folder>\SRC680_m122_native_packed-1_en-US.8941\setup
/net
(which is not exactly as specified in install instructions but is accurate
for what I got when I extracted the downloaded file) returns an error from
Windows Installer:
“Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for
detailed command line help.”
Following the FAQ Collaboration to here
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/new-faq/faqinstall/faqinstall/226.html and
using “ -net” instead returned the same error.
I understand the error message (it doesn’t like the “ /net”), but since I’ve
no clue what the Windows Installer SDK might be, or how to consult it, I am
asking – what is the correct command line syntax/argument to install this
version of OpenOffice.org to Windows in a multi-user environment?
Why wouldn’t a multi-user environment be the default installation mode for
any OS that uses it?
If I missed a different set of installation instructions that would have
solved this, I apologize for taking up your time.
Thank you,
Kathy O’Brien
