otherwise) for the specific security/password scenario you describe is
like taking the bicycle to go uphill when the train is there or you have
a car: you can certainly do it, but it's harder than
this much just to use the
program.

Might also consider another setup box that is triggered when one or more
MS Office file association boxes are checked. That way, a new box would

come up before, but never as frequent as I see it here.
Am I missing something? Is there a web-based interface that this list
uses that ignores/overrides the Reply-to header?

Does this only happen in OOo?

is with the list or with the installation and/or help file of OOo, I
don't know.
Although, if nothing else, it does demonstrate what an unbelievably

them to reply with a confirmation).

For ad
message? Yes, I can turn this behavior off, but I want to know when a
*legitimate* read receipt is activated.
Sending a read receipt to a mailing list certainly cannot qualify as
legitimate...
Sorry for the rant - it just really bugs me.

cated. Why is setup.exe buried in a directory with
over 500 different files? Sure, I know to look for setup.exe, but is a
new user going to know they need to scroll past all those files to get
to the setup program to install OOo?

o fix the file
association problem. What is that? Are you talking about a complete
reinstall of OOo?
Also, if you don't mind, please contact me off-list to discuss some
school-related IT stuff.

Follow up...
I just installed OpenOffice on a machine that already had MS Office
installed on it, and EVERYTHING WORKS THE WAY I WANT.
Please, please, please somebody tell me that OpenOffice does not require
MS Office in order to work the way I want.

till, .doc, .xls and .ppt files show no file association in Windows and
when given a choice to select which program to open, there isn't an
easily-discernible executable to select for each doc type. Selecting
openoffice (soffice.exe) produces errors.
