[users] unable to save and send attachments that can be opened.

Help! ASAP I am new to openoffice  2.3 writer and cannot send attachments.No 
one can open these attachments ..I get error mesages. How do I correct and save 
my documents so that I can send (most people receiving my attachments have MS 
word. Thank you peg
