Have you tried pasting the text as unformatted text?

I don't know about Paul, but I also want to do this, and in my case, pasting as unformatted text defeats the purpose. I was just about to write my own question, when I saw this.

In my case, I don't get a table (of course, I am pasting from a highly controlled web page - my own PHP code getting data from a database and formatting it with <p class=somename> and CSS definitions, designed for the express purpose of copy/pasting into other programs - perhaps what Paul is copying from is more complex in HTML structure), but I also don't get the formatting, which I want. I assume Paul wants that, also. I'm not sure what he meant by "I did RTF and worked too" - I see no choice for RTF in Paste Special for this kind of clipboard content.

If, rather than using the clipboard, I save the page as an HTML file, I can open it in OOo very nicely, but the part of OOo that is used is called "Writer/Web" rather than just "Writer", and in that mode I cannot save it as any type of OpenOffice file, a DOC file, RTF, or any other "document" file type - only as HTML or plain text, which puts me back where I started. Is there any way to get OOo to take formatted web content and end up with a regular OOo document, whether using the clipboard or any other method?
