Maybe this info will explain why note comments are used in spreadsheets in
general. Though the OP raised an interesting question... what if you want to
"comment out" part of a function? Im not sure how you do it in Excel either (by
this I mean not via macro - directly in the cell).

Not that I'm aware of. Potentially creating a macro function would
solve this since you can put the comments in the macro code and simply
have the name of the function in the cell itself.
