You probably want to try 1.5 first. It used to be that you NEEDED 1.4.x,
but I heard that with the 2.0 final release, you need 1.5. Based on
this, I setup to use 1.5 with no problems on both windows and Linux.
Prior to 2.0 final release, I had problems with anything but 1.4x
