Nevertheless, the time taken to start OO.o 1.9.69
Writer is short enough that I don't worry about
the splash screen anymore.

Cloning the disk and reinstalling seems to have taken
care of the instability in both the system and in the
loading of the Quick Starter.

Quick Start seems to have been absolved!
