I have been using OO version 2.0 with X11 on a MacBook.
Recently when we transferred those files to the Mini, something went
wrong...?
Now, when I try to activate either or both, the icon 'bounces,' but the
program is not loaded.

Office WP software. All they know is Windows here.
I think you'd lose that bet. There seem to be no small number of Chinese,
