i am trying to sign a document with writer via File-> Sign Document
(translating from german version). So the dialog pops up, i select a
certificate i want to use (currently just one). when i select that the
former dialog appears and states the signature is not valid.

OOo 2.0 will offer digital signature, 1.1.4 does not.
