I did a new installer re-imported my old engine and it's all fine again.
I think, or it should be nice that the hosted engine install checks
don't rely on dns only. It fails at the end even when you are using
/etc/hosts which should work fine.

completed, is to clean the hosted-engine storage domain and restart
