I solved a similar problem by adding an additional line "# VDSM PRIVATE" to the
beginning of the file /etc/multipath.conf
For example, the beginning of the file looks like this:
# VDSM REVISION 1.3
# VDSM PRIVATE
…
This prevents configuration overwriting.
