just tryed it from github spamassassin.git, i was warned :=) is there any gentoo repo maintainers that can help me make it into gentoo ? for the access violation avoid mkdir in build stage :/

Hi Steve, There are many rules that look at this. The FUZZY Logic rules might help and in the KAM ruleset, you'll see replace_tag lines and how they are used in various places to shutdown spammers used to obfuscate words by using other character sets and symbols. You can find the KAM.cf ruleset

OK, thanks for the additional info. It looks like I was having a permissions issue and the bayes_* files were not both r/w for users despite having bayes_file_mode set to 0666. I'm thinking probably because the bayes_path was originally created manually with root. spamassassin reads site-wide
