I have download the source files of 1.8.10 ->compiled->make->make install,
It was successful build and install without errors.
Later I opened a new terminal and set all the lib files in LD_LIBRARY_PATH
but still I am facing the same error.
OS: RHEL 5.5
[x]$svnversion --version
sv

Thanks for the response. The problem happened with a single working copy - I
checked out elsewhere and could commit, so I guess something got corrupted.
Have fixed the issue by blowing away the old working copy and recreating it.

No – our server asks always for a password, but the client does not ask to
store it. I had to enter the password for the svn log everytime.
Only if I use a svn co/up the server also asks, but in that case the client
asks to store it.
