I should clarify - I'm getting that error even on the old server running
svnadmin dump on some of the repositories that exist on the old server
itself. It IS a legacy server, with some of the repositories having been
created in 2008.

version for CentOS 7 is only subverison 1.7, which is now pretty out of
date. Updating CentOS to version 1.9 or later turns out to be *very*
