Our status is that all the specifications come out faster than we can implement
them. This is true of both Jakarta EE and MicroProfile. We haven't managed to
get out TomEE 9 final which is targeted at Jakarta EE 9.1 compliance and
already Jakarta EE 10 is due to release in May. We had to skip Jakarta EE 8
and 9 compliance entirely.

Realistically the project needs more resources and contributors. Being behind
doesn't help us get them, so it's very much a catch 22.

I appreciate this is the 7th time you've asked about catching up with
MicroProfile specs since 2020 and always get the same answer.

Hope is not lost. There have been at least 2 times in the last 20 years where
resources were as low as 1 person active on the project and we managed to turn
it around. We managed to ship a Java EE 6 Web Profile certified TomEE 1.0
without any full-time contributors at all.

What we did have, however, is a lot more people contributing in their spare
time. Even I had to work in my spare time. I know people feel their time
wouldn't make a difference, but when you have 5 or 6 people doing it at the
same time, it makes all the difference.

I encourage everyone reading to consider contributing time to his project you
love and rely upon. I know it seems intimidating, but you won't be alone and
will be learning from industry experts. It's not just good for the project,
but it's amazing for you and a secret weapon to becoming an industry expert
yourself. All great endings start with humble beginnings. Just one foot
forward starts the journey.
